Fargo city government operates with many boards, committees and commissions that focus on specific topics. These bodies often forward recommendations to the Fargo City Commission for action.

If interested in being a member of one of these panels, complete the City of Fargo's application form to express your interest. We will consider your application when it is time to fill a vacant position on the commission, committee and/or board you are interested in.

Airport Authority
Responsible for operation and maintenance of the airport.
Ambulance Service Oversight Committee
Review and prioritze community medical needs, analyze data and address current issues affecting emergency medical responses
Arts & Culture Commission
Responsible for the commissioning and placement of public art owned by the city, and works to encourage the display of public art by all citizens, developers and property owners.
Auditorium Commission
Responsible for operation and maintenance of the Fargo Civic Center.
Board of Adjustment
Considers variances in zoning ordinances.
Board of Appeals
Duties include hearing appeals from citizens who feel the Inspections Department made an error in applying a code requirement.
Board of Equalization
Offers an opportunity for individual property owners to testify regarding their property values
Board of Health
Oversees operations of Fargo Cass Public Health.
Cass Clay Food Commission
Advises how to assure that residents have access to safe, nutritious and affordable foods.
Civil Service Commission
Protects merit system for city employees and ensures systems principles are upheld.
Community Development Committee
Makes recommendations to the City Commission regarding land development, including the use of economic incentives and grant funds.
Economic Development Incentives Committee
Evaluates applications from property owners for various property tax exemptions and economic incentives.
FARGODOME Authority
Responsible for operation and maintenance of FARGODOME.
Fargo City Commission
Represents the entire City of Fargo as a commission form of government.
Fargo Youth Initiative
Works to empower and unite the youth of Fargo.
Finance Committee
Provides counsel and guidance to staff dealing with the financial operations of The City of Fargo.
Historic Preservation Commission
Works toward preservation of historic buildings or areas.
House Moving Board
Considers house moving requests.
Housing & Redevelopment Authority
Administers and provides low-income housing.
Human Rights Commission
Works to promote acceptance and respect for diversity and discourages all forms of discrimination.
Library Board
Responsible for operation and maintenance of Fargo Public Library.
Liquor Control Board
Performs several functions related to the sale of alcohol in the City of Fargo.
Metro Area Transit Coordinating Board
Coordinates operations and administration of a joint transit system for the Fargo-Moorhead metro area.
Metro Flood Diversion Authority
Reduce the flood risk of the stakeholder communities and counties along the Red River of the North.
Native American Commission
Works to strengthen the Native American community.
Parking Commission
Manages parking facilities to meet community needs.
Performing Arts Task Force
Reviews the Feasibility Study on repurposing the Civic Center into a performance venue.
Planning Commission
Considers land use, planning and zoning issues.
Police Advisory & Oversight Board
Creates a dialogue between community representatives and the Fargo Police Department to improve policies and programs.
Renaissance Zone Authority
Is responsible for economic development, promotion of the Renaissance Zone and administration of zone incentives.
Special Assessment Commission
Determines how costs of various improvements will be spread against each benefiting property.
Special Assessment Taskforce
Reviews history of special assessments in Fargo.
Sustainability and Resiliency Committee
Furthers the City of Fargo's environmental stewardship and climate resiliency efforts.
