Gladys Ray Shelter

The Gladys Ray Shelter (GRS) provides a low-barrier, predictable, and safe space where individuals without a home or a place to stay can access a range of supportive services and connections. GRS is one program under the Harm Reduction Division (HRD) of Fargo Cass Public Health and the City of Fargo. The shelter works to provide low-barrier and accessible entry to services and fosters positive relationships that often feel unattainable for some people experiencing homelessness. GRS reduces the barriers that many have faced by keeping safety at the forefront of admissions and focusing on relationship building.

The shelter provides consistent opportunities for engagement as well as a place where individuals can meet their immediate needs and make connections to service providers in the community. In addition, intentional and consistent efforts are made to complete the Housing Prioritization Tool and search for opportunities for diversion as part of being a housing-focused program.
