FCPH's Mobile Health Unit
Fargo Cass Public Health (FCPH) is committed to providing the highest level of care to community members, whether that takes place at our main location, in a school setting, at our Gladys Ray Shelter or from our newest location, the Mobile Health Unit.
FCPH launched the Mobile Health Unit in June 2026 to improve access to a variety of healthcare services for residents across Cass County. Mobile health units can bring medical care, including preventive services, to community members who may face transportation challenges or live in areas where accessing healthcare is difficult. FCPH's Mobile Health Unit will bring important services to communities and residents, effectively removing those barriers.
The Mobile Health Unit is designed with patient needs, including privacy, in mind. The interior of the van is equipped with an exam table, equipment for capturing vitals, a refrigerator for storing vaccines, and a sink for hand-washing. The driver and passenger seats swivel to face rearward to provide additional seating.
What services does the Mobile Health Unit provide?
Services currently provided by the FCPH Mobile Health Unit include:
- Immunizations - Our program provides immunizations for all age groups, starting with infants. Immunizations are also offered for school-age children, adolescents, college-age students and older adults.
During Mobile Health Unit events, immunizations will be offered, along with the ability to view a patient's immunization record and discuss vaccine recommendations. - Women's Way - Women’s Way is North Dakota’s breast and cervical cancer early detection program and may provide a way to pay for most breast and cervical cancer screenings.
During Mobile Health Unit events, the Women's Way coordinator will visit with potential clients and enroll those who qualify. - Women, Infants & Children (WIC) - Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC) provides nutrition education and breastfeeding support, healthy foods and referrals to other community programs.
During Mobile Health Unit events, WIC staff will visit with individuals and families to determine eligibility for the program. They will provide WIC services to moms, babies and children currently enrolled in WIC, including weights and heights.
- Colon cancer prevention and early detection education
During Mobile Health Unit events, Health Promotion staff will provide education on the benefits of early detection and risk factors for colon cancer. The Rollin' Colon may be on display, depending on locale and weather conditions.
Where will the Mobile Health Unit be?
- Wednesday, August 12, 5:00 - 8:00 pm: Fargo Police Community Picnic - Broadway Square, 401 Broadway
The Mobile Health Unit will be open and available to the community for tours.
