Crime Prevention Information
Crime Prevention reduces the opportunity for crime, helps people understand the fear of crime vs. the reality of crime and increases neighborhood livability. The following resources are available to help residents, businesses, rental property owners, the faith communities, neighborhood associations, and others reduce the opportunities for crime, build communities where residents are aware and work together and work with the police and other agencies in the City to address issues.
The majority of crimes in the City of Fargo are crimes of opportunity, which is committed without planning when the perpetrator sees that he/she has the chance to commit the act at that moment and seizes it. Such acts have little or no premeditation. These are the easiest to prevent, but the hardest to solve.
The links on the left will provide crime prevention information for each topic.
