Propose a Program (Event or Activity)
Library programs are a fundamental component of library services. Events hosted by the library are one of the ways in which the library fulfills its mission and vision. They expand the library’s role as a cultural and community center, support and respond to community interests, and introduce attendees to the Library’s resources and materials. We welcome hearing from community members and experienced instructors who are interested in presenting at the library. If you are interested in presenting a library-sponsored event at any library location, we welcome proposals for events which support our mission/vision and which complement our collections, services, and goals.
*Storytime or reading to children requires several educational components that support early literacy initiatives to foster young readers. At this time, we are NOT accepting proposals for presenting storytimes or reading to children.
**If you are an author, illustrator, or other creator and would like to stage an event featuring your work, it should to be included in the library collection. To have your work considered for purchase by the library, please read through our Local Author Submission Form and submit it for consideration.
***If you are looking for space to hold a non-library event or meeting, please see our Meeting Room Policy and fill out a Meeting Room Application.
What You Need to Know about Library-Sponsored Programs
• Your event must be free and open to the public.
• You may not sell products or services during presentations at the library. However, with prior arrangement, we may allow the sale of works by presenters such as books, music, or artwork immediately before or after the presentation.
• Programs may require pre-registration based on facility limitations, supplies needed, or age-level restrictions. When pre-registration is required, it must be completed through the Library’s online calendar of events/registration form unless an exception is given by the appropriate library staff member.
• Presenters may not require personal information from program participants as part of a pre-registration process or during the program itself. Program participants may voluntarily give presenters their contact information.
Proposal Deadlines
Planning for library programs begins up to six months before an event occurs. Community members wishing to propose programs should keep that timeline in mind when submitting a proposal.
Submit a Proposal
Please fill out the form below and it will be routed to the appropriate staff person. Library staff will inform you of a decision regarding your application. Review of forms may take up to 2 – 3 weeks. You will receive a response within 30 days of submission.
