We look forward to serving you through a wide variety of homeschooling resources available for both parents and children.
Fall 2025 Homeschool Events
Animal Adaptations - Sept. 23 at 2 p.m., Main Library: Our local area has a tremendous diversity of wildlife. Each species survives and thrives through adaptations to our climate and habitat. Kids of all ages are invited to learn about these adaptations when Jeffrey Miller, Director of the Cass County Soil Conservation District, visits the library. Kids will also have an opportunity to see and touch real animal pelts! No pre-registration is required.
Harvest Moon STEAM - Oct. 3 at 2 p.m., Main Library: The annual harvest moon (the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox) this year is also a supermoon, which will cause it to look bigger and brighter than a regular full moon. Let's explore our beautiful moon together! Kids of all ages are invited to this open house event between 2 and 4 p.m. to experience a variety of hands-on activities related to the moon. No pre-registration is required.
HIstory Alive! Book Club - Main Library: Kids ages 8-13 are invited to experience history in an entertaining and thought-provoking way at the History Alive! Book Club. Join us as we experience books and history through fun activities, lively discussion, snacks and more! Pick up your book and register at the Children's Desk in the Main Library. Registration opens, and books become available, one month in advance of the meeting.
Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. - Angel of the Prairie: The Heroic Story of Hazel Miner During the North Dakota Blizzard of 1920 by Kevin Kremer
Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. - Lost on the Prairie by MaryLou Driedger
Building Bridges and Navigating Rivers - Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. - Main Library: Dive into the science of moving water! In this hands-on workshop, kids will explore the power of hydraulics in nature and engineering with professional engineers Zach Cormican from Moore Engineering and Karl Klindworth from John Deere ISG-Fargo. We'll learn how rivers shape the land through erosion and flow, then build working hydraulic bridge models to see how similar principles help engineers solve real-world problems. Perfect for curious minds who love science, building, and discovery! This event is open to kids from 6 to 10 years old. Pre-registration is required and opens Oct. 20.
Edible Christmas Crafts - Dec. 16 at 2 p.m., Main Library: To eat or not to eat? That will be your question as we make fun Christmas-themed crafts using sugar cones, marshmallows, frosting, candy, and more! Decorate your home or save for a sweet snack - you decide! This program is geared towards kids ages 5 and older. Pre-registration is required and opens Dec. 2.
