Fargo's Rising Star Recipients
The City of Fargo is proud to offer the Fargo Rising Star Award, a recognition designed to honor employees who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation and dedication in their roles. The recipients are selected by the leadership teams in their respective departments.
This award will be given out at the beginning of each City Commission meeting over the course of 2025 and highlights individuals who go above and beyond in their service to the community and the organization, with a focus on governmental efficiency, collaboration, striving for excellence and personal drive.
Rising Star Award Criteria
Leadership and Initiative
- Demonstrates a proactive approach, consistently taking on new challenges.
- Leads by example – inspiring peers through actions and attitudes.
- Takes ownership of projects/daily work, driving results and fostering team
collaboration.
Innovation and Impact
- Contributes fresh ideas that drive change or improve processes.
- Shows potential to influence the future direction of the organization.
- Demonstrates the ability to solve complex problems with creative solutions.
Professional Growth and Development
- Exhibits a strong commitment to self-improvement and expanding skillsets.
- Actively mentors or supports colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience.
- Flexible in adapting to new workflows and technology.
Being Far More
- Maximizes efficiency by doing more with less in the interest of conserving taxpayer funds.
- Removes barriers to collaborate between Departments, identifies partnerships with external groups and provides superior customer service (both internal and external)
- Goes extra the extra mile in large projects that impact the future of the organization and tackling out of the box job responsibilities.

The Rising Star Award winners are honored at Fargo City Commission meetings during the meeting in which their department is being featured.
