Use of Candles in Public Assembly Areas

Candles and holders must pass a couple of tests in order to be used in a public assembly area.

The first test involves tipping the candle holder to a 45 degree angle from vertical. The candle holder must return to the upright position after being tilted. If it tips over, it cannot be used.

The second test is to place a piece of tissue paper over the candle holder. The paper cannot catch on fire for at least ten seconds. It is okay for the paper to brown a little, but if it bursts into flames the candle cannot be used.

The pictured candle and votive are an example acceptable for use in a public assembly facility.
