Compost & Yard Waste

The City of Fargo has various recycling drop sites where residents can drop off their yard waste (leaves, grass clippings and garden waste) between the spring and fall seasons. The yard waste is recycled into compost; the compost is a soil amendment for use in gardens and flowerbeds to improve plant growth and health.

Developing the yard waste into compost is a closely-monitored process under the direction of the Solid Waste Department.

The Solid Waste Department also oversees the production of wood chips. The wood chips are a product resulting from the curbside brush collection program provided by the Forestry Department.

Be sure to check out the dates for the next compost and wood chip giveaway.
