Energy Production at Fargo City Landfill
The City of Fargo is using its landfill to produce electricity! A wind generator and solar panels convert natural elements into electricity, and another generator turns methane gas from decomposing garbage into electricity.
The city uses some of this electricity to operate buildings at the landfill. It sells excess electricity to area utility companies.
The current energy production link is down due to a compressor station expansion project at the landfill. An updated link will be provided as the project is completed.
