Sump Pumps

Commercial and Residential sump pumps are designed to pump surface water and ground water into the City of Fargo’s storm water drainage system. Section 22-0432 of the 1971 revised City Ordinances prohibits surface or ground waters, including roof drains and foundation drain tiles, from being connected to the sanitary sewer. Fargo residents may apply for a waiver, allowing them to connect sump pumps to the sanitary sewer from October 31 through March 31 of each year. For more information, or to request a seasonal waver, contact the wastewater compliance group at 701-461-SUMP or fill out the online Sump Pump Waiver Form.
