Fargo Cass Public Health is here to support moms and their decision to breastfeed. Many moms go back to work after having a baby so planning ahead for returning to work can help mothers continue to breastfeed.
This first thing we recommend is talking with your employer before baby is born about your options. Fargo Cass Public Health is also excited to support moms with the Back to Work Mom (#B2Wmom) program. We have numerous resources to help mothers as they plan to go back to work.

Having a talk with your HR department or supervisor about your plans will make the transition easier. Not sure how to start a conversation? View a sample 'Letter to Employer' for ideas. You can also encourage your employer to become an Infant Friendly Workplace.
There are state and federal laws that apply to protect your rights to breastfeed and provide breast milk for your baby.
There are many businesses who have worked to become Infant Friendly. Review the list and acknowledge businesses who support new mothers and breastfeeding.
As a #B2Wmom, you will receive timely tips and breastfeeding support through text message. The program includes approximately two text messages per week throughout your pregnancy and until your baby is six months old.
