Floodproof Basement Requirements
The Fargo City Commission adopted new floodproofing requirements in March of 2014. All single and multi-family residential structures within the 41-foot river stage are now required to meet all floodproofing standards. This includes structures to be built in Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) areas. Commercial and industrial construction have new requirements too.
Why build a floodproof basement?
- Lower flood insurance rating on standard policies
- Increased salability
- Peace of mind
- No floodproofed foundation has ever failed in Fargo
