Approval Terms

The City of Fargo reserves the right to deny requests, including those of a private nature such as for birthdays or wedding anniversaries. The City of Fargo will also deny any requests that aim to promote any political candidate or individual running for office or that violate the North Dakota Human Rights Act. Illumination requests must have a local sponsor and be requested by a Fargo resident.

City Hall and the Spirit of the Sandbagger illuminations are strictly honorary and do not imply an endorsement of any organization or topic by The City of Fargo.

Illuminations may be requested for:

• An extraordinary achievement
  
• An organization's event or special action
  
• Arts & cultural celebrations
  
• Charitable fundraising campaigns
• Community events
• Holidays
• Public awareness
• Special honors
  

Illumination requests will not be accepted for:

• Matters of political controversy, ideological or religious beliefs or individual conviction
• Business endorsement or for-profit
