Plant Security
Since 9/11, security at the Water Treatment Plant has been dramatically upgraded. Prior to 9/11 the Plant was only locked at night, now it is locked 24/7. Guests at the Plant must buzz in, identify themselves on the intercom, and state their business prior to gaining admittance. Only Water Treatment Plant Employees have card access, all other city employees do not.
An exterior camera surveillance system is now in place. Any unusual activity would be immediately reported to the police by Water Plant Operators.
Although there have been no instances of attacks on the Fargo Water System in the past, it is important that the water plant staff continue to be vigilant and prepared for that possibility.
A Vulnerability Assessment has been completed on the Water Treatment Plant. Additional security upgrades were completed in 2005.
