Outdoor Warning Siren
Outdoor Warning Sirens
The City of Fargo regularly tests sirens on the first Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. During scheduled siren tests, no actions are necessary for citizens.
When You Hear the Sirens
- Immediately seek shelter indoors and turn on local media (local broadcast channels, radio); do not assume there is no emergency because skies are clear.
- Follow directions from local officials, including information provided by the National Weather Service.
- Only call 9-1-1 in case of an actual emergency. Please do not use 9-1-1 to ask questions about the siren system, all questions may be routed to the Office of Emergency Management at 701.476.4069.
The siren structure is intended to serve as an outdoor warning system, therefore you may not be able to hear the sirens indoors or during an actual event due to high winds and weather conditions. We recommend signing up for Cass Clay Alerts and having a NOAA All-Hazards Weather Radio with Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) technology to provide dependable indoor warning information to your family.
