The City of Fargo Announces "Name a Snow Plow" Contest

Names that are Fargo or North Dakota-centric will be awarded extra points

The City of Fargo is calling on all creative minds to help name the City’s snow plows for the 2024-2025 winter season. The City is launching its “Name a Snow Plow” contest and inviting residents to submit their most original names for a chance to see them featured on Fargo’s snow plows. To submit entries and learn more about the contest, please visit FargoND.gov/NameaPlow. The deadline for entries is Thursday, December 5.

Contest Rules
• Names must be 20 characters or fewer and three words or fewer.
• Names that are Fargo or North Dakota-centric will be awarded extra points.
• Names must be original and not violate copyright or trademark laws.
• Names cannot include profanity or inappropriate language.
• If a name is submitted multiple times, the first entry received will be considered.
• Up to three entries per person are allowed.
• The contest is open to Fargo residents, ages 13 and older.

Public Vote
Once all entries are submitted, the Public Works Department, Engineering Department and Fargo City Commission members will choose 10 finalists based on creativity, originality and overall appeal. The finalists will be posted on The City of Fargo’s social media channels for a public vote. The names with the most “likes” across all social media platforms will be featured on the snow plows. Individuals who submit winning names will appear in a video shared on the City’s social media channels.
