Fargo Rising Star Award Honors Auditor’s Office Employee for Her Service and Commitment

The award recognizes exceptional employees who have been with The City of Fargo for seven years or less

07/08/2025

The City of Fargo is undertaking an effort to recognize and highlight the work of City employees. As part of each City Commission meeting, Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney is taking time to spotlight one of The City of Fargo’s departments to honor their dedication, hard work and customer service. In highlighting the achievements of departments, The City of Fargo has instituted an honor for City employees called the Fargo Rising Star Award. The award is for employees who have been with The City for seven years or less and have consistently gone above and beyond in their service to residents and visitors.

On Monday, July 7, the Mayor presented the award to Angie Bear, who has served in The City of Fargo Auditor’s Office for seven years. Angie was first hired as the Utility Billing Supervisor and was later promoted to Deputy City Auditor – a position she’s held for three years.

In selecting Angie for the award, leadership of the Auditor’s Office cited her expert knowledge of Fargo’s utility billing system. As Fargo installs new digital water meters across the city, Angie is the point person for this project in the Auditor’s Office. Additionally, she assists with liquor licensing, business licensing, charitable gaming, special assessments and a variety of other items. She provides guidance and training to the Auditor’s Office representatives who help residents over the phone, by email and in person at City Hall.

“She has superior customer service skills and demonstrates extraordinary patience with questions from customers and employees alike,” Mayor Mahoney said. “Angie’s commitment to public service makes her a Fargo Rising Star.”
