Requests for Mayoral Proclamations
Proclamations are ceremonial documents signed by the Mayor of Fargo for:
- Public awareness
- Charitable fundraising campaigns
- Arts & cultural celebrations
- Special honors (on the recommendation of the Mayor)
- An organization's event or special action
- An extraordinary achievement
- Public awareness campaigns
Proclamations will not be issued for:
- Matters of political controversy, ideological or religious beliefs or individual conviction
- Business endorsement or for-profit
Requests for Proclamations
- Proclamations are strictly honorary and are not legally-binding
- Must have a local sponsor and be requested by a resident of Fargo
- The Mayor’s Office reserves the right to modify or deny any proclamation request
- Provide contact information and address where the final document should be sent
- A congratulatory letter is an alternative where proclamation criteria are not met
Criteria for Requests
Proclamation requests must include the following:
- Full name, address, telephone number(s) and email address of contact person
- The date when the proclamation is needed
- The name and date(s) of the day, week, month or event to be proclaimed
- Proposed text of what is being proclaimed (the Mayor’s Office reserves the right to modify proposed text)
Proclamation Submission & Questions
To submit the request online, attach the document with the proposed proclamation to an online email submission form.
