Peterson has owned and operated multiple businesses for more than three decades. As a county commissioner, he led through challenging times, from regional flooding to public health crises, while keeping taxes low, supporting public safety initiatives, and voting to fund essential services that families, businesses and neighborhoods across our city have come to expect.

During 12 years on the Cass County Commission — representing much of north Fargo — he served multiple terms as Chair, and earned statewide recognition, including the Commissioner of the Year award from the North Dakota Association of Counties, and multiple national appointments including chairing National Association of County’s (NACo) Homeland Security Subcommittee, serving as the only elected official in the United States on the National Homeland Security Consortium and being one of only five commissioners in the nation appointed to NACo's Artificial Intelligence Exploratory Committee. Peterson brings a unique blend of private-sector know-how and proven public leadership.
