Board of City Commissioners - November 27, 2017 Minutes

Agreeable with a call for a Special Meeting issued by Mayor Mahoney, the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Fargo, North Dakota, convened in a Special Meeting in the City Commission Room at City Hall at 11:30 o'clock a.m., Monday, November 27, 2017.
The Commissioners present or absent were as shown following:
Present: Gehrig, Grindberg, Piepkorn, Strand, Mahoney.
Mayor Mahoney presiding.

Hearing on an Appeal of the Decision of the Civil Service Commission in the Matter of the Termination of Police Officer David Boelke:
A Hearing had been set for this day and hour to consider the appeal on the decision of the Civil Service Commission regarding the termination of Police Officer David Boelke.
Commissioner Piepkorn moved that the Board uphold the September 13, 2017 decision of the Civil Service Commission regarding the termination of Police Officer David Boelke.

Second by Mahoney.

Commissioner Gehrig moved the motion be amended allowing Mr. Boelke the opportunity to resign his position.

Second by Grindberg. On call of the roll on the amendment to the motion, Commissioners Gehrig and Grindberg voted aye.
Commissioners Strand, Piepkorn and Mahoney voted nay.
The motion died for lack of a majority.

On call of the roll on the original motion, Commissioners Piepkorn, Mahoney, Strand, Gehrig and Grindberg voted aye.
No Commissioner being absent and none voting nay the motion was declared carried.

Commissioner Piepkorn moved that the Board adjourn.

Second by Grindberg. All the Commissioners voted aye and the motion was declared carried.
The time at adjournment was 1:18 o’clock p.m.
