LIQUOR CONTROL COMMITTEE MEETING
July 18, 2018 1:30 P.M.
Present: Commissioner Piepkorn, Deputy Chief Joe Anderson, City Auditor Sprague, Grant Larson, Environmental Health,
Absent: Commissioner Gehrig, Police Chief Todd
Others Present: Assistant City Attorney Nancy Morris; Rick Carik, Rick’s; Dustin Mitzel, Happy Harry’s; Duane Litton, Duffy’s; Jesse Feigum, Drekker; Cody Nelson, Barbacoa; Doug Restemayer, DS Beverages; Doug Murch, Comney Law; Jamie McDonald, West Acres Bowl ; Other members of the media, concerned citizens and other members of the industry.
Meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M.
1. Commissioner Piepkorn called the meeting to order and asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of May 16, 2018. There were no additions or corrections to the minutes of May 16, 2018. Moved by Larson, seconded by Anderson to approve the minutes of the May 16, 2018 meeting of the Liquor Control Board all voted in favor, motion passed unanimously.
2. A. The first application to be considered today is for the issuance of a Class “Y” alcoholic beverage license to Drekker Brewing Company LLC d/b/a Drekker Brewing Company to be located at 1632 1st Avenue North.
There were no questions or comments regarding this application.
Moved by Larson, seconded by Sprague approve the issuance of a Class “Y” alcoholic beverage license to Drekker Brewing Company LLC d/b/a Drekker Brewing Company to be located at 1632 1st Avenue North, all voted in favor, motion passed unanimously.
B. The second application to be considered today is for the issuance of a Class “FA” alcoholic beverage license to BeerFish LLC d/b/a BeerFish to be located at 230 Roberts Alley North.
There were no questions or comments regarding this application.
Moved by Larson, seconded by Anderson to approve the issuance of a Class “FA” alcoholic beverage license to BeerFish LLC d/b/a BeerFish to be located at 230 Roberts Alley North, all voted in favor, motion passed unanimously.
3. Sprague stated there was an incident at West Acres Bowl/Cactus Jacks over the weekend that involved being on a licensed premise after the business was closed, consuming alcohol when the business is closed and over consumption of alcohol.
Deputy Chief Anderson said a patron called informing Police that an employee was drinking with him and the employee passed out, this activity occurred after 2 a.m. when consuming alcohol is prohibited.
Attorney Morris commented the penalty for a 1st offense of this ordinance is a warning and mandatory server training attendance. The City must provide a notice of the sanction and offer an opportunity for a hearing. Jamie McDonald, manager of Cactus Jacks said the employee was immediately terminated.
There being no further business to come before the Liquor Control Board, the meeting was adjourned at 1:44 p.m. The next regular meeting will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the City Commission Room.
