Liquor Control Board Meeting - March 15, 2017 Minutes

Present: Commissioner Piepkorn, Police Chief Dave Todd, City Auditor Steve Sprague, Grant Larson, Environmental Health

Absent: Commissioner Gehrig

Others Present: Rick Carik, Rick’s; Erik Johnson, Johnson Law Office; Duane Litton, Duffy’s; Rudolfo Romo, Romo’s & Kevin Mason, Vogel Law; concerned citizens and other members of the industry.

Meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M.

1. Commissioner Piepkorn called the meeting to order and asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of February 15, 2017. There were no additions or corrections to the minutes of February 15, 2017. Moved by Larson, seconded by Todd to approve the minutes of the February 15, 2017 meeting of the Liquor Control Board; all voted in favor, motion passed unanimously.

2. A. The first application to be considered today is for the transfer of a Class H alcoholic beverage license from Romo’s LLC d/b/a Romo’s Tacos located at 3402 13th Avenue South to Romo’s LLC d/b/a Magnolia’s to be located at 402 Broadway. The owner would like to move the license to a new location, location transfer only.

Moved by Todd, seconded by Larson to approve the transfer of a Class H alcoholic beverage license from Romo’s LLC d/b/a Romo’s Tacos located at 3402 13th Avenue South to Romo’s LLC d/b/a Magnolia’s to be located at 402 Broadway. All voted in favor, motion carried.

B. The second application to be considered today is for the transfer of a Class FA alcoholic beverage license from Grazies Pasta Company LLC d/b/a Grazies located at 2000 44th Street South to Albana LLC d/b/a Grazies to be located at 2000 44th Street South.

The applicant had significant credit history problems including at least two judgements. Both the applicant and the current license holder are aware of the issues and have been informed that when the judgements are satisfied and proof of that satisfaction has been provided they can reapply for the license transfer.

Moved by Todd, seconded by Larson to DENY the transfer of a Class FA alcoholic beverage license from Grazies Pasta Company LLC d/b/a Grazies located at 2000 44th Street South to Albana LLC d/b/a Grazies to be located at 2000 44th Street South. All voted in favor, motion carried.

There being no further business to come before the Liquor Control Board, the meeting was adjourned at 1:35 p.m. The next regular meeting will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the City Commission Room.
