Staples was assessed as a HIGH-RISK offender by the North Dakota Sex Offender Risk Assessment Committee. The following information describes Staples and his offense:

In 2014, Staples was convicted of Sexual Abuse of an Adult Female in Federal Court in North Dakota.
In 2017, Staples was convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact in Federal Court in North Dakota. His victim was a six-year-old female.
Staples is a high-risk lifetime registrant.
