During its meeting on Monday, April 28, the Fargo City Commission engaged in a detailed discussion with Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski on The Fargo Police Department’s 2024 Annual Report. The report is now available for public review at FargoPolice.com.

The report highlighted a decrease in crime across all major categories as compared to 2023, despite an increase in calls for service in 2024. Crimes against persons dropped 6.1%, crimes against property decreased 5.1% and crimes against society also fell 13.3%.

Chief Zibolski also discussed a decrease in assault and domestic assault rates; data shows a 15% drop in aggravated assaults and a 5% drop in simple assaults. Zibolski also explained that -- within these crime group classifications -- there was a 43% reduction in domestic violence-related aggravated assaults and a 28% drop in domestic violence-related simple assaults.

The report also focuses on the department’s accomplishments and challenges in 2024. It highlights multiple achievements and core missions of the department, showcasing several of the FPD’s goals for the future (including the hiring of a Health and Wellness Coordinator for the FPD and the expansion of the Real Time Crime Center). The Fargo Police Department remains strongly committed to continued community collaboration to enhance public safety and maintain a vibrant community.

Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski remarked, “The 2024 Annual report illustrates the dedication exhibited by each member of The Fargo Police Department – sworn and civilian – in providing excellent service to the community. The reductions we see in major crime categories are a direct result of the hard work of our team and the innovation that defines our agency. I am excited to see what the future holds for this exceptional team and am honored to continue serving our Fargo community.”
