Area young people in grades K-12 are invited to an event to learn about the National Junior Duck Stamp Contest for school-aged youth on Saturday, Jan. 11, starting at 10 a.m. at the downtown Main Library. Participants will learn about the contest’s history, how to enter, age groupings, and scholarship awards. Related waterfowl and habitat education programming resources will also be available from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Following a brief presentation by staff from Audubon Great Plains, participants will take part in a make-&-take waterfowl art activity. Some art supplies and resources for participating in the art contest will be available to take home. K–12 educators are also encouraged to attend. All materials will be provided, while supplies last. No registration is required to attend this free event. For more details, contact Children’s Services at 701.241.1495.

As part of this event, and to help provide some inspiration for the art contest participants, prints of last year’s North Dakota Junior Duck Stamp Contest winners are currently on display in the breezeway gallery at the downtown Main Library through the month of February. Best of Show, Runner-Up Best of Show, and first through third place winning entries are on display.
Fargo Public Library events are free and open to the public; adults must accompany children ages 9 and younger.
