The City of Fargo offices, Fargo Cass Public Health, Fargo Public Library, Municipal Court, MATBUS routes and garbage & recycling collections will be impacted by the New Year’s Day holiday. The following closures and service changes will be in effect:
Tuesday, December 31, 2024:
• Residential garbage and recycling collections will be on schedule
• Fargo Public Library: All library locations will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31
Wednesday, January 1, 2025:
• Residential garbage and recycling will be collected on Thursday, January 2
• Sanitary Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Facility: Closed
• MATBUS: No paratransit or fixed-route service, and administrative offices will be closed
• The City of Fargo offices and Municipal Court: Closed
• Fargo Cass Public Health (including WIC and the Family Planning Clinic): Closed
• Fargo Public Library (all branches): Closed
Residential garbage and recycling for Wednesday, January 1, will be collected on Thursday, January 6, while the remainder of the week will be on schedule. Residents scheduled to have their garbage picked up are encouraged to place their bins out for collection by 8 a.m. to ensure prompt service. The collection of Christmas trees is expected to begin the week of January 6, 2025.
The public lobbies of Fargo Police Department Headquarters (105 25th St. N.) and Fargo Fire Department Station 1 (637 NP Ave.) will be closed on New Year’s Day. However, full police and fire protection will continue during the holiday.
