The Fargo Police Department responded to a report of a robbery in the 700 block of 7th Avenue North at 9:07 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26. The FPD received a similar robbery report at 9:14 p.m. in the 100 block of 6th Avenue North. In both robberies, the victims told officers that a male broke into their residence and displayed a firearm and then fled. No injuries were reported.
Through an investigation, officers located the suspect in a tent by the Red River near 2nd Street North and 4th Avenue North at about 11 p.m. Officers using a public address system repeatedly ordered the suspect to exit the tent but he refused to follow their commands. The FPD requested the support of the Red River Valley SWAT Team in removing the suspect.
At approximately 4:20 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as Manuel Santos Herbert Perez Jr., a 33-year-old male with no permanent address. Officers arrested Perez for robbery and transported him to the Cass County Jail. The incident remains under investigation; no further information can be released at this time.
Unrelated to the robbery investigation, another tent nearby caught fire during the incident and officers used fire extinguishers to quickly extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.
