2024 College SAVE Reading Champions Announced

Two of this year's winners participated in the Fargo Public Library's Summer Reading Challenge

10/24/2024

The North Dakota State Library partnered with Bank of North Dakota to bring the College SAVE Summer Reading Champions Campaign to participants of the 2024 Collaborative Summer Library Program, “Adventure Begins at Your Library.”

Every student completing their library’s goal for “Adventure Begins at Your Library” received a redeemable certificate for a $10 contribution to an existing College SAVE account or a $25 contribution to a new College SAVE account. More than 525 children have taken advantage of the contribution and families have until December 31, 2024, to redeem the certificate. In addition, there were 10 recipients selected from random drawings who were awarded $529 College SAVE contributions.

“Summer reading with a touch of financial literacy? Sounds like a winning combination! The North Dakota State Library’s partnership with the Bank of North Dakota not only encourages children to take part in the Summer Reading programs offered by their local libraries, but also aids these learners by contributing to their College SAVE (529) accounts,” states Tammy Kruger, Literacy Specialist at the ND State Library. “Everyone who takes part in Summer Reading is a winner in multiple ways!”

More than 4,200 youth from across the state participated in this year’s summer reading campaign. The $529 scholarship recipients are:
• Lolo Naas, Bismarck Veterans Memorial Library
• Micah Morris, Williston Community Library
• Noah Nagel, Bowman Regional Public Library
• Malina Vetter, Minot Public Library
• Chloe Currier, Fargo Public Library
• Rowan Nere, Fargo Public Library
• David Durand, Grand Forks Public Library
• Leo Martel, Casselton Public Library
• Evrett Ard, Leach Public Library
• Ramsey Triplett, Dickinson Area Public Library

“Bank of North Dakota congratulates all of the young people who participated in their local library’s summer reading programs,” states Don Morgan, Bank of North Dakota president. “It is well-established that reading is an important component of academic success which leads to a well-prepared workforce.”
