October is Fire Prevention Month and the Fargo Fire Department reminds residents to test smoke alarms at least once a month.

October is Fire Prevention Month and the Fargo Fire Department reminds residents to install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area and on each level of the home, including the basement, and to test smoke alarms at least once a month by pushing the test button. All smoke alarms should be replaced when they are 10 years old or stop responding when tested.

The Harm Reduction Division video series, a partnership between Fargo Cass Public Health and the Communications and Governmental Affairs Department, won an Award of Excellence in the Education/Training category at the 2024 Savvy Awards sponsored by 3CMA, a network of local government communicators.

Walk-in flu shot clinics will be held October 18 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and October 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Fargo Cass Public Health.

The monthly Community Game Nights are back at the Northport Library and are scheduled the first Monday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The “Reptiles at the Library” event will be October 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Main Library, sponsored by the NDSU Herpetology Club, who will be bringing in cold-blooded creatures of all kinds.

The 2024 Northern Focus Photography Exhibit is on display at the Main Library through October 31.
