The City of Fargo to Recognize Navy Week with Mayoral Proclamation Ceremony on Thursday, July 25

Navy Week features various community events, including the Blue Angels at the Fargo AirSho

The City of Fargo will host a mayoral proclamation ceremony to recognize Navy Week in the City Commission Chambers in City Hall beginning at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 25.

Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney will present a mayoral proclamation, along with other local mayors, declaring July 22-28, 2024, Navy Week in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Admiral Stuart Munsch, a North Dakota native who leads the Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy, will accept the proclamation on behalf of the U.S. Navy. In addition, Gov. Doug Burgum will deliver a Navy Week proclamation for the state of North Dakota.

Sailors from the USS North Dakota will attend the ceremony, and the Navy Band Great Lakes Brass Ambassadors and Ceremonial Guard will perform. The public is invited to the event. It will also be broadcast live at TVFargo.com, cable TV channel 56 and on The City’s social media channels.

Fargo Navy Week, one of 15 Navy Weeks in 2024, brings Sailors to the area to emphasize the importance of the Navy to Fargo, the state of North Dakota and the nation. More than 50 Sailors will participate in various community outreach events across the area, including events at the Fargo Public Library. Hector International Airport will host the Fargo Airsho featuring the Blue Angels, the Navy’s flight demonstration squadron, on Saturday and Sunday, July 27-28. In honor of Navy Week, City Hall and the Spirit of the Sandbagger monument will be lit red, white and blue on the evening of Thursday, July 25.
