There are several Navy Week events starting July 24 leading up to the Fargo Air Show, including programs that will feature sailors and other Navy personnel from the Navy History and Heritage Command who will talk about the deep ties between North Dakota and the Navy. Sailors from the USS Constitution will talk about the oldest commissioned ship in the Navy, where they currently serve, and personnel from the U.S. Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command will inform visitors of the importance of atmospheric and oceanographic science and the overall value of STEM education to the Navy. These programs will be July 24 at 11 a.m. at the Carlson Library and July 25 at 10 a.m. at the Main Library.
Other Navy Week events include a concert featuring the Navy Band Great Lakes Brass Quintet on July 24 at 1 p.m. at the Carlson Library; and a Sailors Read to Kids Storytime on July 25 at 10 a.m. at the Main Library.
And finally, a cupcake decorating contest for teens will be August 1 at 1 p.m. at the Carlson Library. This event is free, all materials will be provided and pre-registration is required.
