The Fargo Police Department (FPD) will compete against the West Fargo Police Department (WFPD) and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) in the 5th annual “Golden Drive Sock Drive” to help collect socks for area homeless kids.

This friendly competition will begin Saturday, October 1. Individuals interested in donating socks in support of their favorite law enforcement agency will have until Friday, November 4. Socks must be new and all sizes are accepted.

The FPD will have a sock donation box available in the main lobby of FPD Headquarters located at 105 25 St. N. Access to the lobby is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Additional sock donation locations can be found on the Golden Drive Homeless Kids Facebook page www.facebook.com/goldendrivehomelesskids.

Last year, the WFPD took home the traveling trophy for collecting 3,385 pairs of socks. Results and the winner of this year’s sock drive will be announced on Friday, December 16 as part of the Golden Drive’s “Fill the Fire Boot” event scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the West Fargo Fire Department located at 106 1st St in West Fargo.

The sock drive is organized by Golden Drive Homeless Kids, a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness of the homeless crisis faced by kids in Fargo and the surrounding communities.
