The Fargo Police Department Releases the Names of FPD Officers Involved in a Critical Incident on Monday, August 1 in Mapleton, North Dakota

The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting an investigation into the officers’ use of force

FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA – On Monday, August 1, the Cass County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) responded to a report of gun shots fired in Mapleton, ND. As the incident progressed, CCSO requested assistance via mutual aid. The Street Crimes Unit (which is composed of officers from The Fargo Police Department, Cass County Sheriff's Office and West Fargo Police Department) responded to this request.

During the critical incident, an armed individual exited the house and four Street Crimes Unit members (all of whom are members of The Fargo Police Department) discharged their duty weapons. The individual was provided with life-saving measures but was pronounced deceased on-scene.

The FPD has placed the four officers on paid administration leave while the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NDBCI) conducts an investigation into the officers’ use of force. The following are the names of the FPD officers involved in this critical incident:

• Sergeant Travis Moser, an eighteen-year veteran with The Fargo Police Department.
• Detective Josh Heller, a six-year veteran with The Fargo Police Department.
• Detective Ryan Jasper, a six-year veteran with The Fargo Police Department.
• Investigator Jordan Korte, a four-year veteran with The Fargo Police Department.

The Fargo Police Department’s policy is to place officers involved in critical incidents on paid administrative leave until the investigation into the use of force has been completed. FPD departmental photos are being provided with this news release.
