The annual Summer Reading Challenge continues at the Library through August 20th provides all ages with another summer of interesting and engaging stories, events, crafts and activities. This year’s theme is “Oceans of Possibilities” and participants of all ages are encouraged to read every day to complete challenges, earn badges and win prizes.

The Fargo Police Department Annual Community Picnic will be from 5 to 8 p.m. June 29th at Urban Plains Park. The Great Race, the world’s premier old car rally, saved the best for last on Sunday and a large crowd lined Broadway to watch the finish and welcome racers to Fargo. The race had made it to all of the contiguous 48 states except Rhode Island and North Dakota, so to solve that problem, the 2022 race started in Warwick, Rhode Island on June 18 and finished Sunday in Fargo. Competitors in 120 of the world’s finest autos drove 2,300 miles and the first-place prizewinner received $50,000.00.

Tonight is Commissioner Gehrig’s last City Commission meeting. Tony has served for seven years as a City Commissioner and he did not seek re-election this year citing a goal to spend more time with his family, especially his young son Jack, and focus on the remaining four years of his military career. Tony worked on several initiatives and priorities while serving on the Commission, including supporting and advocating for the addition of Fire Station Number 8 in south Fargo and he served as the primary elected liaison to the enterprise and utility departments during major expansions of the Water Treatment Plant, Landfill and the Water Reclamation Facility. I want to wish good luck to you, Tony, and thank you for your service to The City of Fargo.
