The Clay County Sheriff’s Department initiated pursuit of the suspect vehicle, which ultimately crashed in rural Clay County. The suspect, 24-year-old Malik Lamar Gill, was found to be deceased within the vehicle.

The adult female victim was last reported to be in critical condition at a local healthcare facility. The infant is in stable condition and under medical care at this time with injuries to the left hand and thigh.

The victims and the suspect were known to each other. All three individuals are residents of Moorhead, Minnesota.

Gill was a convicted felon based on a prior conviction in Minnesota in 2021. Consequently, he was prohibited from possessing a firearm. There was an active warrant in Cass County (issued on April 25, 2022) for Gill related to simple assault/domestic violence.
