Mayoral Proclamation - National Kidney Month - March 2021

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim

  • WHEREAS, There are an estimated 37 million Americans with kidney disease and most do not know they have it; and

  • WHEREAS, It is critical that attention be brought to this often overlooked, but increasingly common disease; and

  • WHEREAS, Major risk factors are diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of kidney failure and over the age of 60; and

  • WHEREAS, Untreated, kidney disease can lead to kidney failure; and

  • WHEREAS, The month of March is National Kidney Month and March 11, 2021 is World Kidney Day; and

  • WHEREAS, The National Kidney Foundation - the leading patient centric organization in the U.S. dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease - is calling on all Americans to take care of their kidneys and their overall health and get tested if they are at risk.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Dr. Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim March as

NATIONAL KIDNEY MONTH

in the City of Fargo, North Dakota.
