Cities of Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead Offering Free Disposal of Household Waste June 8-13

The Cities of Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead will allow their respective residents to dispose of household items at no charge during the week of June 8-13. Metro residents should reference the guidelines below when utilizing these services:

Fargo Landfill (4501 7th Ave. N, Fargo) Guidelines:

  • Hours of operation 7:15 a.m. – 5 p.m. M-F, 7:15 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday
  • Residents must bring their household waste, including furniture, to the landfill.
  • Appliances are limited to two (2). No appliances with Freon will be accepted.
  • Tires are limited to four (4) passenger tires.
  • Building materials will not be accepted (concrete, decking materials, shingles etc.).
  • Proof of residency is required.
  • The City of Fargo will hold an additional free disposal week in October of 2020.

West Fargo Transfer Station (1620 Main Avenue W, West Fargo) Guidelines:

  • Hours of operation: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. M-F, 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Saturday
  • No household hazardous waste or electronics accepted.
  • Two (2) appliances may be disposed of for no charge.
  • Up to six (6) passenger tires will be accepted.
  • Proof of residency is required.
  • Questions? Call the West Fargo Sanitation Department at 701.433.5440.

Moorhead Transfer Station (2727 Hwy 10 E, Moorhead) Guidelines:

  • Hours of operations (June 8-13 only): 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. M-F, 7 a.m. – noon Saturday.
  • Residents must bring household waste, including furniture, to the transfer station.
  • Appliances are limited to two (2).
  • No household hazardous waste or electronics accepted.
  • Building materials will be subject to a disposal fee.
  • Proof of residency is required.

Household Hazardous Waste:
Cass County: Cass County residents’ household hazardous waste (paint, stain, cleaners, electronics) can be brought to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 606 43 1/2 Street North, Fargo. These items will not be accepted at the landfill. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility facility also accepts one computer set (tower, monitor, and accessories), as well as one television per resident each month.

Clay County: The Clay County Household Hazardous Waste Facility and Electronics Recycling Facility remain closed until further notice.
