Mayoral Proclamation - The Blenders Day - December 17

I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, North Dakota,do hereby proclaim December 17 as The Blenders Day

  • WHEREAS, 2019 marks The Blenders’ 30th anniversary and the group has released 14 albums on national and independent record labels, including nine Christmas records; and

  • WHEREAS, For 30 years, The Blenders have kept fans entertained with the riddle of who they really are: A first-class a cappella group? A four-man Glee Club? A boy band? Or Fargo’s greatest export next to NDSU football?; and

  • WHEREAS, A half-hour television documentary is being produced and broadcast this year about two brothers who grew up near Fargo on a North Dakota farm (Darren and Allan Rust) and two lifelong Fargo friends (Tim Kasper and Ryan Lance); and

  • WHEREAS, Over the years, they have opened for Jay Leno and Howie Mandell, who along with Arsenio Hall, are contributing congratulatory cameos to the documentary; and

  • WHEREAS, The Blenders’ 1998 single, “(I’m in Love With the) McDonald’s Girl,” was and international hit and used in a McDonald’s commercial; and

  • WHEREAS, The Blenders have won three Emmy Awards for a jingle they wrote, sang and performed for a Twin Cities’ morning news program promotion; and

  • WHEREAS, “When It Snows,” The Blenders’ 2002 top-selling Christmas CD, charted on Billboard’s Independent CD Chart at No. 34; and

  • WHEREAS, Two Blenders arrangements of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “Deck the Halls” landed in the nationally-released 2007 film, “The Perfect Holiday;” and

  • WHEREAS, The Blenders have written “One Last Song” to commemorate their 30-year career milestone; and

  • WHEREAS, Even after 30 years of working together, The Blenders remain close, lifelong friends who continue to enhance the quality of life in Fargo.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That I, Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, do hereby proclaim December 17, 2019 as

THE BLENDERS DAY

in the City of Fargo, North Dakota.
