Contractors for the City of Fargo’s 19th Avenue North road reconstruction and infrastructure improvement project are currently in the final phases of roadway construction in the west portion. This week crews will be opening another finished section of the new 19th Avenue North road realignment in north Fargo.
Weather permitting, on Wednesday October 3rd, additional access will open west of the 45th Street North intersection for direct business access from the new 19th Avenue North road realignment, including access to Mid America Steel, L2 Contracting and the Horse Park/NDSU Equine Center. All detour routes will be removed from 12th Avenue North.
The active work zone will move from the east edge of the ND Horse park to just east of 57th Street North and 19th Avenue North intersection. Travel between the new 45th Street North intersection to 57th Street North intersections on 19th Avenue North remains closed to motorists.
Access to businesses and Horse Park west of 45th Street North and 19th Avenue North intersection:
- Interstate 29 (I-29) to north on 45th Street North to new 19th Avenue North roadway realignment
- New 19th Avenue North roadway realignment to temporary access point at Sheyenne Loop
- Maintained for local traffic only
Access to businesses and Horse Park on the west end of 19th Avenue North:
- 12th Avenue North to 57th Street North to 19th Avenue North
- Maintained for local traffic only
- Access south of 45th Street North via 12th Avenue North
Motorists will use these alternative access routes throughout the remainder of the 2018 construction season. To finish the reconstruction and infrastructure improvement projects, crews will work to complete roadway removals, underground utility upgrades and concrete paving from new west road alignment of 19th Avenue North to 57th Street North.
As a reminder crews have opened north to south travel through the 45th Street North and 19th Avenue North intersection and access to Interstate 29 (I-29) from 19th Avenue North to traffic as a two-way stop. Northbound and southbound 19th Avenue North traffic has the right of away. The new 45th Street North intersection has moved to the north with the new road alignment of 19th Avenue North. The existing intersection has been removed and railroad crossing has been updated.
The east portion of the new 19th Avenue North roadway alignment opened in July. The 45th Street North crossing over the railroad tracks to prepare for a possible future railroad underpass has been completed.
