WHEREAS, millions of Americans are in need of supplemental food assistance each month and the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo-Dilworth area is not untouched by these statistics; and

WHEREAS, the National Association of Letter Carriers and the National Rural Letter Carriers' Association, in conjunction with the United States Postal Service and United Way of America, are teaming up in an effort to combat the hunger problem nationwide; and

WHEREAS, last year over 25 tons of non-perishable food items were collected by carriers and distributed to the local food banks in our communities to feed the hungry in our area, and this year we hope to collect even more.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, Del Rae Williams, Mayor of Moorhead; Chad Olson, Mayor of Dilworth; Tim Mahoney, Mayor of Fargo; and Richard Mattern, Mayor of West Fargo do hereby proclaim May 12, 2018 as Letter Carrier's Food Drive Day in our cities and urge all residents to take part in this effort to assist our less fortunate residents.
