On Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at approximately 11:27 p.m., Fargo Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance at 3101 32 St. S. Officers arrived, made contact with the female victim, and gave commands to Orlando Estrada, 28 year old from Fargo, to exit the apartment. As officers started to make entry into the apartment, Estrada opened the door and brandished a large knife. Fargo Police Officer Jacob Rued feared for his life, and fired his service weapon striking Estrada. Officer Rued has been with the Fargo Police Department for two years.
In accordance with policy and procedures, the officer has been placed on paid administrative leave. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation will conduct the officer involved shooting investigation.
No further information or interviews will be conducted regarding this incident at this time.
