This year marks the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence. In celebration of these pivotal events, the Fargo Public Library will host a living history presentation titled "Soldiers of the American Revolution" at the downtown Main Library, 101 4th St. N., on Thursday, July 23, at 1 p.m.
Presenter Arn Kind, an educator with over 48 years of teaching experience, will perform in the uniform of a soldier in George Washington's Continental Army, and share the events that gave birth to our nation. This multimedia presentation will give participants an understanding of this turbulent time and make history come alive. Through portrayals of the people who participated in these events, and through displays of maps, posters, clothing and artifacts. Volunteers from the audience will have an opportunity to take on the role of soldiers in the Continental Army and will learn some of the rudiments of Von Steuben's Drill Manual while handling wooden replicas of Revolutionary War muskets. This two-hour event is for kids, teens and adults. No registration is required for this free event. This event is part of the Fargo Public Library’s free 2026 Summer Reading Challenge that runs through August 15. This all-ages program offers a summer filled with stories, weekly special events, performances and activities for kids, teens and adults. Anyone can participate by reading, attending events and completing challenges. The Fargo Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Fargo Public Library.
