The City of Fargo Announces "Name a Garbage Truck" Contest

Names that are Fargo or North Dakota-centric will be awarded extra points

The City of Fargo is asking residents to put their creativity to work by helping name the City’s garbage trucks. The City is launching its “Name a Garbage Truck” contest and inviting residents to submit their most original names for a chance to see them featured on Fargo’s garbage trucks. To submit entries and learn more about the contest, please visit FargoND.gov/NameaGarbageTruck. The deadline for entries is Sunday, February 22, at 11:59 p.m.

Contest Rules
• Names must be 20 characters or fewer and three words or fewer.
• Names that are Fargo or North Dakota-centric will be awarded extra points.
• Names must be original and not violate copyright or trademark laws.
• Names cannot include profanity or inappropriate language.
• If a name is submitted multiple times, the first entry received will be considered.
• Up to three entries per person are allowed.
• The contest is open to Fargo residents.

Public Vote
Once all entries are submitted, the Solid Waste Department and Fargo City Commission members will choose 10 finalists based on creativity, originality and overall appeal. The finalists will be posted on The City of Fargo’s social media channels for a public vote. The names with the most tallied votes will be featured on the garbage trucks. Individuals who submit winning names will have the opportunity to appear in a video shared on the City’s social media channels.
