Fargo Public Library to Host Holiday Break Events for Kids, Teens and Families

Events are set for Saturday, Dec. 27, through Wednesday, Dec. 31

The Fargo Public Library has fun, free events scheduled to help residents of all ages make the most of their holiday break.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Winter Tournament
Kids, teens and adults are invited to take part in the library’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Winter Tournament set for Saturday, Dec. 27, at the downtown Main Library. This friendly multiplayer, round-robin competition has both a Jr. Bracket (Open to players age 13 and younger) that starts at noon, and a Sr. Bracket (Open to players age 14 and older) that starts at 2 p.m. A player limit per bracket may be enforced based on attendance. A limited number of controllers are available, and players are highly encouraged to bring their own. Space is limited; pre-registration is required and can be done at fargolibrary.org. Syringe Splatter Painting Workshops for Teens
Teens are invited to stop by the library to dabble in two syringe splatter painting workshops. The first session is set for Monday, Dec. 29, starting at 2 p.m. at the Northport Library; a second session is set for Tuesday, Dec. 30, starting at 2 p.m. at the Dr. James Carlson Library. LEGO Mania Design Contest for Kids
Kids ages 12 and younger are invited to create a LEGO masterpiece for the Fargo Public Library’s annual LEGO Mania Design Contest happening Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Main Library. For this event, youngsters build their own original creation at home and bring it to the Main Library for judging. All entries will be on display from 12 to 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in several categories and winners will be announced at 12:45 p.m. A list of rules and guidelines are available at fargolibrary.org/kids. Family Reading Rumpus Storytime
Families are invited to attend the December Family Reading Rumpus storytime, a monthly event designed for families to enjoy together. Set for Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 6 p.m. at the downtown Main Library, this monthly, interactive storytime series engages youngsters and parents through storytelling and hands-on activities all before bedtime. This month’s theme is “Knotty Gnomes and Nisse.” Family Reading Rumpus events are geared toward children ages 2 to 6, but kids of all ages are welcome to attend and no registration is required. Bluey Noon Year’s Eve Party
Children and families are encouraged to visit the downtown Main Library for the “Happy Blue Year! A Bluey Noon Year’s Eve Party” on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 10:30 a.m. Youngsters will ring in the new year with a Bluey-themed party – before bedtime. The festivities will feature Bluey-themed activities, games, crafts, and a special countdown to “midnight” at noon with dancing. Geared for kids ages birth to 5 years old, this event is open to families with children of all ages. All materials will be provided and no registration is required.
