The City of Fargo offices, Fargo Cass Public Health, Fargo Public Library, Municipal Court, MATBUS routes and garbage & recycling collections will be impacted by the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Residential garbage and recycling for Monday, December 22, and Friday, December 26, will be collected on schedule; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (December 23, 24 and 25) will be collected one day early. For the week of the New Year’s holiday, please follow the same garbage and recycling schedule as Christmas week. Residents are encouraged to place their bins out for collection by 8 a.m. to ensure prompt service. The collection of Christmas trees is expected to begin the week of January 5, 2026.
The following closures and service changes will be in effect during the holidays:
Wednesday, December 24, 2025:
• MATBUS Paratransit and fixed-route bus service will end by 5:15 p.m.; the Ground Transportation Center will remain open until 5:30 p.m.
• City offices, Municipal Court, all Fargo Public Library locations and Fargo Cass Public Health (including WIC and the Family Planning/Immunization Clinic) will close at noon
Thursday, December 25, 2025:
• Sanitary Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Facility: Closed
• MATBUS: No paratransit or fixed-route bus service; administrative offices will be closed
• City offices and Municipal Court: Closed
• Fargo Cass Public Health (including WIC and the Family Planning/Immunization Clinic): Closed
• Fargo Public Library (all locations): Closed
Friday, December 26, 2025:
• Fargo Cass Public Health Family Planning/Immunization Clinic: Closed
Wednesday, December 31, 2025:
• All Fargo Public Library locations will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31
Thursday, January 1, 2026:
• Sanitary Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Facility: Closed
• MATBUS: No paratransit or fixed-route bus service; administrative offices will be closed
• City offices and Municipal Court: Closed
• Fargo Cass Public Health (including WIC and the Family Planning/Immunization Clinic): Closed
• Fargo Public Library (all locations): Closed
The public lobbies of Fargo Police Department Headquarters (105 25th St. N.) and Fargo Fire Department Station 1 (637 NP Ave.) will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. However, full police and fire protection will continue during the holidays.
