WHEREAS, Hunger and homelessness continue to affect individuals and families across Fargo, shaping health, safety, opportunity and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, Thousands of residents experience food insecurity each year, relying on local food pantries, community meal programs and neighborhood-based initiatives to help meet daily needs; and
WHEREAS, These challenges fall hardest on people with low incomes, people with disabilities, youth, older adults and those navigating long-standing systemic barriers; and
WHEREAS, Addressing hunger and homelessness requires a united effort that strengthens prevention, expands access to food and housing, and ensures every resident can reliably meet their most basic needs; and
WHEREAS, The City of Fargo recognizes the dedication of food access organizations, housing providers, health systems and volunteers who work every day to support residents and create pathways toward stability; and
WHEREAS, Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week call on everyone to deepen their understanding of these issues; and
WHEREAS, The City of Fargo affirms that ensuring reliable access to food, housing and supportive resources is essential to the community's health, vitality and future.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT I, Dr. Timothy J. Mahoney, Mayor of the City of Fargo, North Dakota do hereby proclaim November 16-22, to be
HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK
in the City of Fargo and encourage all residents to take part in learning, service and community engagement to ensure every person has access to the food, housing and support necessary for stability and well-being.
