FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA – The Fargo Police Department continues to actively investigate the shooting that occurred on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at approximately 12:10 a.m. in the 900 block of 6th Avenue North. When officers arrived, they located an adult male with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was assessed, and officers immediately began life-saving measures. Shortly thereafter, Sanford Ambulance paramedics arrived, took over care and transported the victim to a local medical facility to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. Officers did locate an unloaded firearm, which was later determined to be a bb gun, in the victim’s waistband while providing care.
At the scene, officers initially spoke with an adult female witness who reported that a verbal altercation had taken place between herself, the victim and another adult male — believed to be the suspect — just prior to the shooting. The suspect was described as a white male in his late teens to early 20s with “fuzzy” blonde hair, some facial hair and wearing a red sweatshirt and blue jeans.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Responding officers and members of the Criminal Investigations Division canvassed the area, speaking with potential witnesses and searching for any video footage to provide additional insight into what happened.
Detectives have continued their efforts to follow up with both the victim and the initial female witness in hopes of clarifying information; however, neither has cooperated with the investigation. Several additional individuals were identified who reported hearing gunshots but did not witness the incident, while others in the area declined to speak with law enforcement.
The Fargo Police Department remains committed to pursuing every lead and is asking for the public’s assistance in gathering information on the incident.
