FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA – The Fargo Police Department (FPD) is proud to announce that the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has awarded the FPD a certificate of completion of its three-year pledge to enhance trust and collaboration between law enforcement and the Fargo community.
This pledge was part of the Trust Building Campaign, an initiative launched by the IACP, the world’s largest and most influential professional association for police leaders. To participate, law enforcement agencies commit to implementing 25 key policies and leading practices to enhance trust within a 36-month period.
Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski made the decision to join the Trust Building Campaign as part of the FPD’s Strategic Plan and ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability and meaningful engagement with the community.
By completing the Trust Building Campaign pledge, The Fargo Police Department established policies, training and strategies across six core focus areas: bias-free policing, use of force, leadership and culture, victim services, community relations and recruitment, hiring and retention.
These efforts were designed to encourage positive community-police partnerships, promote safe and effective interactions, reduce crime and enhance the well-being and quality of life for all Fargo residents.
“While completing the Trust Building Campaign pledge is an important milestone, it doesn’t mean our job is finished,” said Chief Zibolski. "The Fargo Police Department will continue to work every day to strengthen relationships and earn trust in the community by serving with professionalism, transparency and accountability."
