Every year, the City Assessor’s Office is responsible for appraising the value of all the property in Fargo. They also help maintain a record of property ownership and legal boundaries. These are immense tasks that the Assessor’s staff tackles with expertise, diligence and a deep sense of public duty.
They manage a high volume of work while providing outstanding customer service to our community. Whether they are working with a first-time homeowner or a long-established business, the Assessor’s Office ensures every property is valued accurately, reflecting the true character and growth of our city.
Their professionalism and commitment to our residents and business owners makes me extremely proud. We are fortunate to have such a hard-working, fair-minded team behind this important function.
During Monday’s City Commission meeting, we recognized the Assessor’s Office for all that they do, and we presented the Fargo Rising Star Award to a recipient chosen by the Assessor’s Office leadership. The award went to Brenda Sommer, who has served The City of Fargo for five years. She started as an office associate in the Assessor’s Office and was later promoted to the role of residential appraiser.
Brenda is a hard-working, conscientious employee who consistently delivers high quality work for the citizens of Fargo. She is a reliable team member who demonstrates excellent customer service and careful attention to detail when working with residents. She is willing to take on any challenge presented to her and is proficient at problem solving.
Brenda is a valued and vital member of the Assessor's team, and we are better because of her. Congratulations, Brenda! Your dedication to public service makes you a Fargo Rising Star.
